CORE VALUES

The Gospel is the center of everything we do.

The Gospel is the means by which we begin our relationship with Christ (Romans 5:2), but it is also the means by which we currently stand and make progress in our sanctification (1 Corinthians 15:1-2). We must remind ourselves of it and preach it to one another (Romans 1:11-15). The Gospel as the message of the Church and the Church as the proclaimer of the Gospel are mutually defining. To be a Church is to have the Gospel at the center of everything that we do.

Gospel-Centered

The Scriptures are the content and shape of what we preach.

The Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12) Through the power of the Spirit, the Scriptures alone carry the power to transform lives and minds. (Romans 12:1-2) Therefore, the Scriptures will drive the content and the shape of the sermons that we preach.

Expository Preaching

The Church is to make disciples that make disciples.

The mission of the Church flows from the Missions of the Son and the Spirit as they have been sent by the Father. (John 20: 21-23) As the Son was commissioned by the Father, so the Church has been commissioned by the Son, through the power of the Spirit, to make disciples. (Matthew 28:16-20) Therefore, doing deliberate spiritual good to one another is the essence of ministry. This is Christ’s command to the members of the Church as the elder’s come alongside them to equip them to make disciples. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

DISCIPLE-MAKINg

Success is in the sending.

The people of Christ are a sent people. (Acts 1:8) Each week, we are to be sent back out into the world to live as ambassadors for Christ in our families, workplaces, and communities. (2 Corinthians 5:20) Therefore, Mosaic Church will measure success by how we are sent out, celebrating when we send our members out to do the work of ministry.

Sending

Love those that are not like you.

The love of strangers is an essential characteristic of Christians and is commanded by Scripture. (Romans 12:13; 1 Timothy 3:2; Hebrews 13:2) This goes beyond opening your home, rather, it is a posture of life that remembers that we were once far off and have been brought near by a grace we did not deserve. (Ephesians 2:13) So we will be a people that cherish loving those that are not like us and seek to bring them into our community.

Hospitality

Pray to the God who is near.

Prayer is the most powerful action the Church can perform. We are commanded to pray constantly, expectantly, and thankfully to the God who is near to us. (Psalm 145:8; Philippians 4:6-7) We want to be a people that experience the peace of God in our lives by persevering in prayer.

We are a family of families.

Family is the basic building block of society. It is an institution designed by God, essential to human flourishing. (Genesis 2:24) The Family is to be held in high esteem among the people of God. (Hebrews 13:4) Every Christian, single or otherwise, is united to the family of God in the Church. (Ephesians 1:5-6) Therefore, we will be a Church that honors the family unit, as defined by God, and seeks to build each other up as brothers and sisters in the faith.

Known, needed, and cared for through active, covenant membership

The Church is the body of Christ and the individuals within the Church are the members of that body. (Romans 12:4-5) To be a member is to be a regenerate Christian, baptized into the body of Christ. It is to be known, needed, and cared for by your fellow brothers and sisters. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 2:19) Therefore, Mosaic Church will practice active, covenant membership.
